當許多星際大戰忠實觀眾還在討論路克在《Star Wars：最後的絕地武士》（Star Wars: The Last Jedi）的結局時，馬克漢米爾（Mark Hamill）已經開始洽談下一個演出邀約了。
日前有一名馬克漢米爾的影迷在 Twitter 上向《星際異攻隊》（Guardians of the Galaxy）系列編導詹姆斯岡恩（James Gunn）提出請求，希望他能為馬克漢米爾在《星際異攻隊3》中安排一個角色。而岡恩則回應說，馬克就住在他家附近，或許兩人有機會可以碰個面、喝杯咖啡聊聊。
@JamesGunn, could you do me a huge favour and find a role for @HamillHimself in Guardians 3? The awesomeness of it might end me, but I'm willing to risk it. Thanks 🙂👍

對此，馬克漢米爾本人也親自回應，不僅相當樂意與岡恩碰面，更表示自己除了是一個好鄰居之外，還是一個沒有工作的演員，如果岡恩是有認真考慮這件事的話，可以直接與他聯繫（再次強調自己是好鄰居）。

《星際異攻隊3》現階段還沒有非常詳細的資訊，不過詹姆斯岡恩先前曾表示此片將會是形塑漫威電影世界觀未來十年的重要作品，預計會在 2020 年與觀眾見面。
